Magnus Zaar was born in 1966 and has pursued a successful career in TV production since 20 years in Sweden. In 2004, he quit his job and followed his wife, working for the Swedish Foreign Ministry, to Uganda. During the years to follow, Magnus developed a love relationship to Africa and its people, as well as a critical view of the risks of and problems with state aid corruption.
Based on his personal experiences, Magnus now debuts with a fast-paced and provoking political crime novel, “The Naked Ambassador”. Set in Sweden and the fictive country of Eastern Republic of Congo and with Clara Fabre, a headstrong 32-year old single mother as main character, it reveals the hidden structures within the corridors of power and courageously exposes the corrupted state aid system. Combining all the qualities of classic Scandinavian crime writing with a vibrant sub-Saharan African setting. “The Naked Ambassador “ is the first in the Clara Fabre series. Magnus has since moved back to Stockholm, but travels to Africa regularly. He is also a member of the board of children’s development organisation Plan International. |
