2011 Lola & The Book of Justice

Lola is thirteen years old. She has just returned to Denmark with her family after seven years in Africa. While Lola is furnishing her new room, she discovers a mysterious book hidden in an old furniture. She shows the book to her new classmate Vik, a boy with asperger’s syndrom, and together they start a laborious work trying to decipher the strange text. They find it to be a book of African sorcery. To check if this can be true, they decide to test one of the magic formulas. Shortly after Camilla, the school class bitch, and her friend Soffi disappear...

Fantasy books, stories of vampires and witches are very popular among young readers today. LOLA & THE BOOK OF JUSTICE bridges this gap between the mysteries and magic in today’s literature – and the ordinary lives of young people. The plot in the novel is both disturbing and thrilling, but set in a realistic context. The young readers are confronted with questions that relate to their own life and identity. It is about life at school and reaching puberty, but also about the bigger questions in life – superstition versus knowledge, magic versus laws of nature.
