2009 Gud som haver (Say your prayers, little one)

Eva is enjoying her maternity leave with baby-girl Julia, and the two-year-old son Sebastian, when she suddenly finds herself caught in a mother’s worst nightmare. In an unattended moment a stranger abducts Sebastian when he is out playing in the back yard. The child is later retrieved by the schoolteacher Mattias, who becomes the police’s main suspect and convicted for the crime. Eva, however, cannot get rid of the feeling that the danger is still out there. When she receives a letter from Mattias, claiming that the true offender still walks free, Eva decides to start her own investigation, since the police regard the case as closed. Soon she realises that her suspicions were right, the real threat is someone in the family’s most intimate surroundings…

Say your prayers, little one is a thrilling debut, investigating the darkest alleys of the human psyche and exploring our deepest fears. It is a novel about the power of Eva’s love for her children, but also about society’s inability to deal with the unpleasant and frightening.
