Author: Fredrik Brounéus

Fredrik is a Swedish writer, with university degrees in pharmacy and journalism. He has a background as humor columnist in one of Sweden’s major newspapers and has also written scripts for Radio Sweden. In his current work as communication researcher at the University of Otago he explores ways to communicate with the public about the side-effects of various medicines.

Fredrik’s first English novel, The Prince of Soul and The Lighthouse was published in March 2012 in New Zealand to great critical acclaim. Previous books include a children's thriller and a young adult pop novel, both of which were published in Swedish. Fredrik’s writing has been compared to Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, Jim Butcher and Robert Rankin and is characterized by a witty, quirky style and highly original characters. His stories are a wonderful and accessible blend of the supernatural and the universal, which makes them appeal to a wide audience.

Fredrik and his family are currently based in New Zealand, where he is about to finish his next novel.

Hilarious action and deep philosophical discussion. Reincarnation has never been treated like this before.

Swedish he may be, but Brounéus comes perilously close to having written the great New Zealand visionary fiction novel... a rollicking adventure – humorous and as exciting as an Indiana Jones escapade.

If the Dalai Lama and Terry Pratchett collaborated on a novel, it might read something like this.
