2002 Oron bror

In Daniel Sjölin’s debut novel, Little Brother and Big Brother, now adults, travel back to the landscape of their childhood. During their journey Little Brother, the narrative voice, recalls a number of episodes and the environment from his early years.

Daniel Sjölin enters childhood from the child’s perspective and sketches its fantasies and sights with tension, angst, surprise and curiosity. The reader finds himself surrounded by a world of monsters and beasts, grown-ups “up there” talking in weird pictures, a world of closed doors and strange water phenomena, appearing both surrealistic, suggestive and dangerous. The child’s existence has no border between fantasy and reality, and is marked by worries.

Worries Brother was awarded the Borås Literary Award for Best Debut in 2002.
